Maybe you were dancing to the latest hit by Madonna? Or trying to crack Rubik’s Cube… If you were really up to date with technology you would be playing your cassettes in your Sony Walkman! Mobile phones were the size of bricks and the Internet hadn’t been invented…
It was in the 1980s that we began to understand more about the environment and the dangers of plastics and burning fossil fuels. And it was in 1981 that a group of like-minded people thought it was a good idea to avoid plastic waste going to landfill when it could be used as materials for early learning and creative play… and so Creative Junk was born. We have gone from strength to strength. But we wouldn’t be here if it wasn’t for the amazing support of our volunteers, participating friends in local industries and the big-hearted people in the community.
So come along and join us for our Fun Day, when we will be celebrating four decades of repurposing, reusing an reimagining in Christchurch! There will be lots going on, including workshops, a sausage sizzle and a raffle. See you there!
